Michael Raninger is a founding partner at Greenlake Legal.

He has extensive experience in advising Austrian, European and international clients in many areas of banking and finance.

He regularly acts for lenders, corporate clients and financial sponsors in financial transactions comprising a multitude of complexities ranging from senior financing to secured leveraged financing to structuring and documentation securitisations and other structured finance transactions.

Michael advises arrangers and issuers in stand-alone debt issuances as well as debt issuance programmes in the context of secured and unsecured senior bonds, hybrid capital as well as regulatory capital bonds issued by credit institutions.

He acts for creditors and debtors in restructuring and insolvency-related matters and has, as such, been involved in many landmark restructurings and insolvencies, including the largest corporate restructurings in Austria, the largest corporate restructuring in Latin America and the only corporate insolvency of an originator of assets underlying asset-backed securities in Austria.

Background

Michael has been active as a finance lawyer for more than 15 years. Before founding Greenlake Legal, he worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Vienna and London for 10 years, and for two Austrian law firms for a total of more than 5 years.

He holds law degrees from the University of Vienna (Mag. iur.), Karl-Franzens University of Graz (Dr. iur.) and King’s College London (LL.M.).

Michael grew up in Austria, the United States and Germany.
